Cox’s Bazar solemnly observed Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day, paying tribute to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement. The day was marked with floral tributes and various commemorative programs organized by the district and upazila administrations alongside people from all walks of life.

At 12:01 AM, Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Salahuddin, accompanied by family members of the martyrs of the 24th Uprising, laid floral wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar in honor of the language martyrs.

Similarly, in Ukhiya, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kamrul Hossain Chowdhury led the upazila administration in offering wreaths at the Shaheed Minar at midnight. The ceremony was attended by war veterans, APBn police, Ukhiya police station, Ukhiya Press Club, local BNP leaders, and various social organizations and NGOs.

In Moheshkhali, the day was observed with wreath-laying at the central Shaheed Minar. At 12:01 AM, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md. Hedayet Ullah, Moheshkhali police station’s Officer-in-Charge, Md. Kaisar Hamid and Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mahafuzul Haque led the floral tributes. Representatives from political parties, educational institutions, government offices, the Maheshkhali Press Club, anti-discrimination student movements, literary and cultural organizations, and NGOs participated in the homage.

In Teknaf, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sheikh Ehsan Uddin led the Upazila administration in laying floral wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar at midnight. This was followed by tributes from the Teknaf Model Police Station, various administrative bodies, political parties, and affiliated organizations.

Pekua also commemorated the day with dignity, as the upazila administration, political, social, and cultural organizations, government and non-government institutions, and war veterans laid floral wreaths at the central Shaheed Minar. The day’s observance includes a series of programs and activities.

In Kutubdia, the upazila administration, Freedom Fighters’ Council, Kutubdia police station, health complex, fire service, sub-registry office, citizens’ committee, and anti-discrimination student movements, among other organizations, laid floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar at 12:01 AM. A somber atmosphere prevailed as officials, community leaders, and residents gathered to pay their respects. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Kyathowai Prue Marma, and Officer-in-Charge, Md. Arman Hossain, led the tribute.

The day was observed with due reverence across other upazilas, with various cultural, social, and voluntary organizations arranging special programs to honor the martyrs and promote the significance of the Bengali language.
