The Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Wednesday withdrew Local Cautionary Signal No. 3 from the country’s four seaports — Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla, and Payra — after keeping the warning in force for four days.
Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office assistant meteorologist Md Abdul Hannan confirmed the development on Wednesday afternoon.
He said there was currently no likelihood of squally weather affecting the northern Bay of Bengal, the seaports, or the coastal regions of Bangladesh. As a result, the warning signal previously hoisted at the four seaports had been withdrawn.
The meteorological department had issued Local Warning Signal No. 3 for the ports on June 7 after deep convective cloud formation over the northern Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas raised the possibility of strong winds sweeping across coastal regions and port areas.
According to the latest observations by the weather office, the overall weather situation has improved significantly, prompting the withdrawal of the warning signal.
However, authorities have advised vessels operating at sea to remain vigilant and continue monitoring subsequent weather bulletins for any further developments.
