A low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas, prompting authorities to issue local cautionary signal No. 3 for Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra seaports.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department said gusty winds may sweep across the seaports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh under the influence of the low-pressure system.
Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office assistant meteorologist Abdul Hannan confirmed the development.
According to a weather warning, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice.
Weather conditions in the coastal areas may deteriorate further due to the low pressure, the warning said.
Vessels operating at sea have also been advised to exercise caution and regularly monitor the latest weather updates.
