Spring has yet to arrive in Bengal, but Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive has already embraced a breathtaking transformation. The trees lining both sides of the scenic highway—nestled between the sea and the hills—are adorned with vibrant Palash and Shimul flowers, painting the landscape in fiery hues. Adding to this mesmerizing display are mango blossoms and various other seasonal blooms, heralding the arrival of spring in advance.

With winter fading, tourists have begun flocking to Marine Drive to witness nature’s grand spectacle. The road offers a breathtaking contrast—lush green hills on one side and the endless blue sea on the other. The vibrant red and orange blossoms of Palash and Shimul create a picture-perfect setting, further enhanced by the sweet fragrance of mango blossoms and the melody of chirping birds and buzzing bees.

Thousands of visitors take Chander Gari (open-top jeeps) and other vehicles daily to explore this stunning floral transformation. Many tourists express their awe at such natural beauty, something rarely seen in urban settings.

According to the Cox’s Bazar South Forest Division, the beautification project along Marine Drive began in the fiscal year 2012-13. Around 10,000 saplings of Palash, Shimul, Krishnachura, and Radhachura were planted to enhance the area’s natural appeal. These trees have matured, turning Marine Drive into a floral paradise.

As spring approaches, the combination of blooming flowers, birdsong, and the rhythmic waves of the Bay of Bengal makes Marine Drive an irresistible destination for nature lovers and tourists alike.
