In Cox’s Bazar, vendors like Babul are making a steady profit by selling various species of flower and fruit saplings directly from their vans. Babul earns at least 800 to 1,000 Taka daily through this mobile nursery business.

Field observations reveal that Babul drives his van, stocked with various saplings, through narrow streets across Cox’s Bazar town. These mobile nurseries are attracting the attention of plant enthusiasts who purchase their preferred saplings conveniently and head home satisfied.

Babul sources his plants from various nurseries around Cox’s Bazar, specializing in saplings like marigold, rose, and belifl (a local flower) that are popular for beautifying home gardens. His van carries plants priced between 30 and 100 Taka each.

According to Babul, if he buys saplings worth 2 million Taka annually, he can potentially sell them for 5 million Taka within the year.
