NASA astronaut Joseph M Acaba is expected to visit Dhaka to engage with local youth, academia, and the media.
The US embassy in Dhaka said Acaba’s visit is a significant milestone, marking the first time NASA’s chief of the astronaut office has traveled to Bangladesh.
According to a report in the Dhaka Tribune, his tour will include interactive sessions with students, during which he will inspire young minds to pursue careers in space science, robotics, and STEM education.
Acaba will also discuss the role of space exploration in advancing technology and addressing global challenges, such as the climate crisis.
Moreover, he will participate in a TV interview, sharing insights on NASA’s contributions to global science and technology and how Bangladesh can benefit from collaborative efforts in space exploration and technology innovation through the Artemis Accords.
Meanwhile, the embassy did not specify his arrival and departure dates. However, an official familiar with the matter told Dhaka Tribune that he is expected to arrive on Saturday and will have engagements in Dhaka until Monday.
