In celebration of National Legal Aid Day, a rally, fair, and discussion were held in Cox’s Bazar under the theme: “There’s no joy in conflict; make peace with compromise. Legal Aid is here to help; no need to worry.” The event aimed to raise awareness about legal aid services and promote conflict resolution through peaceful means.

The day began with a rally organized by the District Legal Aid Committee, starting from the District Judge’s Court premises. With District Commissioner Muhammad Salahuddin in attendance, District and Sessions Judge Munshi Abdul Majid led the rally.

Following the rally, the Legal Aid Fair was inaugurated. It offers various services, including blood donation, blood grouping, diabetes testing, and other healthcare facilities.

Later, a discussion on the significance of National Legal Aid Day was held at the District Judge’s Court conference hall. District and Sessions Judge Munshi Abdul Majid, who is also the Chairman of the District Legal Aid Committee, chaired the session.

In his speech, the District Judge emphasized the importance of alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation, over traditional litigation. He highlighted that resolving disputes through compromise saves money and helps maintain good relations between the parties involved.

He further mentioned that the Legal Aid Committee provides free legal services for dispute resolution.

Notable figures attended the discussion, including Judge Osman Gani of the Women and Children Tribunal, Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Akhtar Hossain, Senior Assistant Judge and District Legal Aid Officer, Sajjaten Nessa, Additional Police Superintendent Nazmus Sakib Khan, President of the Press Club, Mahbubur Rahman, and others.
