The No. 3 local cautionary signal at Bangladesh’s seaports has been withdrawn after several days of heavy rain and inclement weather in Cox’s Bazar.
The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has also said there is currently no likelihood of strong or squally winds over the Bay of Bengal and coastal areas.
In a warning issued on Wednesday morning, the meteorological department asked the authorities to lower the No. 3 local warning signal at the Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra ports.
The bulletin said there was no likelihood of squally winds over the seaports, the North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.
Mohammad Abul Hannan, assistant meteorologist at the Cox’s Bazar Meteorological Office, said the situation had improved after several days of heavy rain and strong winds caused by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
“Although Cox’s Bazar experienced heavy rainfall and strong winds over the past few days due to the low-pressure system, the situation has improved now. As a result, the warning signal has been withdrawn,” he said.
