Lutfur Rahman Kajol, member of parliament from Cox’s Bazar, has warned party leaders and activists against engaging in any activities that could damage the party’s reputation, saying that those involved in wrongdoing will not be spared.

He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an iftar and prayer gathering organised by the Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal, Ramu upazila unit, on Monday.

Kajol said a list of individuals involved in unlawful activities was being prepared and warned that strict action would be taken against them.

‘Our slogan is simple — we will not commit wrongdoing ourselves, nor will we allow anyone else to do so. Therefore, everyone must refrain from all kinds of criminal activities,’ he said.

He added that the people had voted for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, enabling it to form the government with the most seats. ‘We must always keep that responsibility in mind,’ he said.

The lawmaker cautioned that his constituency would not tolerate land grabbing and extortion.

‘For more than a decade, people had lost their voting rights and could not speak freely. By the grace of Allah, we have emerged from that situation today. I will not tolerate any crime. A list is being prepared of those involved in wrongdoing, and operations will begin after Eid,’ he said.

Kajol further said that the party’s leader and prime minister, Tarique Rahman, had declared zero tolerance against injustice.

‘To strengthen his hands, we must follow that policy. Our slogan should be — we will neither commit injustice ourselves nor allow others to do so,’ he added.

The event was chaired by Maulana Md Ilyas, the organisation’s convenor. The main discussant was district president Ali Hasan Chowdhury, while the special guest was Kazi Md Monjur Alam Chowdhury.
