Cox’s Bazar, the country’s premier tourist destination, now offers an Online Bus Terminal to streamline transportation services for visitors and locals. Through the website www.obtcoxsbazar.com and its mobile app, travelers can access a wealth of information on bus schedules, ticket prices, and transport operators’ contact details, making travel planning more convenient than ever.

This digital platform provides details of 1,800 buses from 126 transport companies operating on the Cox’s Bazar route. Additionally, it features profiles and photos of 2,000 bus drivers and their assistants, along with data on approximately 3,000 tomtoms, microbuses, and private cars that operate within the city. As a result, tourists no longer have to deal with transport-related hassles during their stay.

The website also includes bus schedules, counter contact numbers, and fare lists for all regional transport services. Travelers can even book tickets directly through the platform, ensuring a seamless experience.

According to Md. Jasim Uddin Chowdhury, Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) and spokesperson for Cox’s Bazar District Police, said this initiative could serve as a model for ensuring road safety across the country. He highlighted that visitors can use the website and app to find routes and destinations and provide a safer travel experience. In case of overcharging or harassment, passengers can lodge complaints via phone for swift action.

Furthermore, the Online Bus Terminal is linked to a tourist transport service called “CoxCab” (www.coxscab.com). This allows tourists to pre-book tuk-tuks, microbuses, or private cars for hotel transfers while traveling on a bus or train to Cox’s Bazar. The platform also offers hotel room booking services, adding another convenience layer.

Launched by the Cox’s Bazar District Police and Traffic Department, this initiative aims to bring order to the local transport sector, reduce congestion, and eliminate traffic mismanagement—ultimately improving the overall travel experience for visitors to this popular beach town.
