In a major crackdown, the Cox’s Bazar district administration removed over a hundred illegal structures blocking roads and footpaths in Kolatoli, Sugandha Point, and the hotel-motel zone, which inconvenienced tourists and locals alike.
The eviction drive occurred from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6. Led by the district administration, it included participation from Cox’s Bazar Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Arif Ullah, Sadar Police Station, Tourist Police, Cox’s Bazar Municipality, and Ansar Battalion.
“We conducted an eviction operation to remove illegal structures and shops that were obstructing roads and footpaths around Sugandha Point, the hotel-motel zone, and Kolatoli approach road,” said Tanvir Hossain, Executive Magistrate (Tourism Cell) of Cox’s Bazar District Administration.
He also said that they removed and destroyed approximately one hundred illegal structures and makeshift stalls, and such drives will continue.
