Eight military institutions and establishments, previously named after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her family members, and individuals associated with her administration, have been changed following the recent mass uprising that led to her departure. Among them is the naval base in Pekua, Cox’s Bazar.
The Ministry of Defence issued a notification on Sunday (March 9) announcing the changes.
Per the directive, the BNS Sheikh Hasina naval base in Pekua has been renamed BNS Pekua.
