Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to pay a one-day visit to Moheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar and Chattogram on August 9 to inspect key infrastructure projects, including the Matarbari Deep Sea Port and the coal-fired power plant.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister will also interact with residents and review the progress of ongoing development initiatives in the area.
Under the itinerary, he will leave Dhaka’s Tejgaon Airport by helicopter at 8:45am and is expected to arrive at the Matarbari Deep Sea Port in Moheshkhali at 9:00am.
During the visit, he will inspect the Matarbari Deep Sea Port, the Matarbari coal-fired power plant and the activities being implemented under the Maheshkhali Integrated Development Initiative (MIDI).
Later in the day, the prime minister will travel to Chattogram to attend a series of official engagements. These include laying the foundation stone of a multi-storey building at the Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy, visiting a madrasa in Fatikchhari and exchanging views with Islamic scholars, inspecting flood-affected areas in Hathazari, participating in a rehabilitation programme for flood victims, and attending an organisational meeting at the Chattogram Circuit House.
He is scheduled to return to Dhaka at 10:40pm after completing the day’s programme.
Authorities have taken necessary security and administrative measures in Moheshkhali and Chattogram ahead of the prime minister’s visit.
