Rapid Action Battalion has strengthened security measures across Cox’s Bazar and other areas under the jurisdiction of RAB-15 ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
Special patrol teams, checkpoints, and intelligence surveillance operations have intensified to maintain law and order during the Eid period.
The information was disclosed by Lieutenant Mostafizur Rahman, commanding officer of RAB-15, during a press briefing held on Sunday (25 May) at Kolghar Bazar in Ramu.
He stated that they had reinforced security at highways, bus terminals, railway stations, launch terminals, tourist destinations, shopping centres, and cattle markets.
RAB has also increased patrols and surveillance to prevent crimes such as extortion, mugging, circulation of counterfeit currency and activities by criminal groups locally known as “ognan party” and “molom party”.
The force is additionally monitoring the transport sector to prevent overcharging fares and passenger harassment during the Eid rush.
The RAB official stated that mobile teams and checkpoints operate round the clock on highways, regularly searching suspicious vehicles.
RAB further stated that plainclothes personnel had also been deployed alongside intelligence operations to prevent sabotage, theft, robbery and any possible deterioration of the law and order situation during the Eid holidays.
