A low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal has intensified into a depression, prompting the issuance of cautionary signals at four sea ports in the country.

As of 6 AM today, the depression was located 1,470 km southwest of Chattogram Port, 1,420 km southwest of Cox’s Bazar Port, 1,345 km southwest of Mongla Port, and 1,350 km southwest of Payra Port. It is expected to continue moving west-northwestward.

According to the weather forecast, the depression remains over the southwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining areas, and may move further in a west-northwesterly direction.

In light of this, signal No. 1 has been raised at Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra sea ports as a precautionary measure.
