A giant sculpture made entirely of plastic waste has been installed on Cox’s Bazar beach to highlight the importance of environmental conservation and the devastating impact of plastic pollution on marine biodiversity. Standing tall at the Seagull Point, this massive structure is a powerful symbol of the urgent need to tackle plastic pollution.

The Bidyanondo Foundation, with support from the Cox’s Bazar district administration, created the sculpture as part of its “Plastic-Free Gift” initiative. This program encouraged tourists and locals to collect plastic waste in exchange for essential goods.

Jamal Uddin, a board member of the Bidyanondo Foundation, explained, “Improper disposal of plastic waste often leads it to end up in the sea, posing a serious threat to marine biodiversity and even human health. This initiative aims to raise awareness and inspire collective action to protect the environment and wildlife.”

The sculpture has already become a landmark, drawing attention to the shared responsibility of preserving the planet for future generations.
