Despite the onset of winter across the country, salt farmers in Cox’s Bazar are spending busy days harvesting salt. Reports indicate salt production is ongoing along the Marine Drive in Ukhiya and several parts of Teknaf.
Cox’s Bazar experiences year-round salt production as a coastal region except during the monsoon season. Local farmers take full advantage of the dry weather in winter to maximize their harvests.
Cox’s Bazar-produced salt is superior due to its higher salinity levels than other coastal areas. This quality allows farmers to continue salt production even during winter when other regions often halt operations. Farmers remain hopeful for a profitable season.
