After several days of relentless rain, Cox’s Bazar finally saw the sun—but its blazing intensity has left residents gasping for relief. The sweltering heat has disrupted daily life, and to make matters worse, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department has issued Local Warning Signal No. 3 due to a low-pressure system over the sea.
Despite the warning, Tuesday (August 13) brought no respite. Throughout the day, Cox’s Bazar city baked under the scorching sun, with temperatures climbing sharply in the afternoon.
A contrasting scene unfolded along the Marine Drive Road and the adjacent coastline. The low-pressure system over the Bay has draped the sky in dark, ominous clouds, raising concern among local fishermen and boatmen.
Many fishermen have returned to safe zones along the shore, particularly in Inani, Teknaf, and Maheshkhali. Similar scenes of fishing boats returning were observed at Cox’s Bazar Fishery Ghat and Nazirartek.
Life in Cox’s Bazar is under dual strain due to the extreme weather conditions that affect both land and sea. Those who rely on the ocean for their livelihoods face significant uncertainty. Authorities are urging coastal communities to heed official advisories and remain alert and prepared for any developments.
