With the launch of tourist ships on December 1, Saint Martin’s Island, the only coral-enriched island in Bangladesh, has once again become a hub for adventure seekers. Despite a strict cap of 2,000 tourists per day, one attraction continues to dominate visitors’ must-try lists: seafood barbecue.

Surrounded by the vast blue ocean, Saint Martin’s offers some of the freshest seafood imaginable. Visitors can purchase their preferred freshly caught fish, which undergoes meticulous cleaning, marinating, and grilling. The smoky aroma and mouthwatering taste make this experience unforgettable.

When tourists disembark at the island’s jetty, the bustling Saint Martin’s Market greets them. Numerous local restaurants line the streets, offering a variety of seafood displayed right in front of them. Tourists can choose their preferred catch, have it barbecued on-site, and enjoy a unique seaside dining experience.

While tourists are thrilled by the culinary experience, residents and business owners express concerns. Recent government-imposed travel restrictions, including limits on visitors and travel permits, have reduced islander business opportunities.
