Seasonal local jujube (boroi) has taken centre stage at Ramu Market in Cox’s Bazar, as the fruit’s peak season begins towards the end of winter. The market is now bustling with fresh, flavourful jujubes, attracting buyers for their quality and taste.
At the market, vendors sit with baskets of green local jujubes, and customers eagerly purchase the seasonal fruit. Rashed Ahmed, a jujube seller, stated that he sells the fruit for Tk 30 per poa (250 grams).
“These jujubes are freshly harvested straight from the trees. They are very fresh and tasty, which is why buyers are happily purchasing them,” he said.
Local shoppers also noted that the jujubes available at Ramu Market are fresher and taste better than those sold elsewhere. As a seasonal fruit, it is affordable and offers nutritional value, making it particularly popular with consumers.
