Cox’s Bazar baked under sweltering conditions on Friday as the mercury climbed to 33.6 degrees Celsius, accompanied by 64% humidity—making the heat feel even more intense for residents and tourists alike.
According to Assistant Meteorologist Abdul Hannan, the high humidity is the key reason behind the oppressive heat. “The humidity is causing a sultry atmosphere, which leads to quicker fatigue and increases the risk of heat-related illnesses,” he explained.
He further warned that such conditions are likely to persist and advised the public to take necessary precautions. Special attention should be given to vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those with existing health conditions.
For many, especially those working outdoors or along the beachfront, the heat has become particularly unbearable, turning routine activities into daily struggles against exhaustion.
