The once-pristine coastline of Cox’s Bazar is facing a mounting environmental crisis, and human carelessness is at its heart. Nearly 15 drains across the town are now choked with polythene and solid waste. Due to a lack of proper monitoring by municipal authorities, these wastes are flowing unchecked into the Bakkhali River and eventually into the sea, especially during the monsoon. Environmental activists warn that marine life is suffering as many sea creatures mistake polythene for food, leading to illness and death. Furthermore, the pollution poses serious long-term health risks to humans as well. These photos were from the North Uttor Rumaliarchhara area.
