Nazirartek, located just 7 kilometres from Cox’s Bazar town, comes alive at dawn with the relentless hustle of fishermen.

The fishing community springs into action as the first light touches the horizon. Some fishermen can be seen meticulously weaving nets—an effort that stretches from morning to noon and again from afternoon to evening.

Their family members actively assist in this intricate process. Meanwhile, others carry baskets brimming with fresh catch to the local fish markets. This cycle of labour continues from sunrise to sunset.

Nazirartek is part of Ward No. 1 of Cox’s Bazar Municipality and is home to the country’s largest dried fish processing industry, making it a vital hub of Bangladesh’s fisheries sector.
