Recently, Dhrupad, the oldest known classical music style, performed in Cox’s Bazar. The style captivated the audience with its profound tradition and musical depth. Dr. Asit Roy, president of the Dhrupad Association of Bangladesh and professor in the Department of Music at Rajshahi University, led the performance. Araf Arefin Argh on the pakhawaj and Tarpana De on the tanpura accompanied him.

The performance occurred on Friday night (October 25) at the Shaheed Daulat Ground of Cox’s Bazar Public Library as part of the 14th conference of the Udichi Cox’s Bazar District Committee.

The audience listened with rapt attention, deeply moved by this ancient and intricate musical form, experiencing firsthand the timeless beauty of Dhrupad music.
