Prabal Express and Saikat Express, the much-anticipated train services that connect Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar, will begin operations on February 1. Advance ticket sales for these two trains began on Thursday, January 23, at 11:00 AM. We have set the minimum fare for traveling from Chattogram to Cox’s Bazar at an affordable Tk 185.
Golam Rabbani, station manager of the iconic Cox’s Bazar Railway Station, confirmed the details with Cox’s Bazar Life. He stated, “The new trains will officially begin carrying passengers on February 1. Following standard procedure, ticket sales start 10 days in advance. Technical issues caused a one-day delay in the scheduled ticket sales, which started on Thursday morning. Tickets are available both online and at railway station counters.”
The fare structure for these new trains ranges from Tk 185 (minimum) to Tk 340 (maximum), making them a budget-friendly option. The ticket prices are significantly lower than most bus services, sometimes less than half the cost.
According to a notice issued on January 20 by Kamal Akhtar Hossain, Assistant Chief Operations Officer of the Eastern Railway, each train will feature 16 coaches with 743 seats. The notice also outlined the schedule and operational details for the trains.
With these new services, tourists and residents alike can enjoy a more affordable and comfortable travel option to reach the vibrant coastal city of Cox’s Bazar, further boosting the region’s connectivity and appeal.
