In a bid to escape the sweltering heat, tourists are thronging the country’s most popular holiday destination — Cox’s Bazar sea beach.

On Tuesday, despite it being neither a weekend nor a public holiday, large crowds were seen at various points along the beach from early morning. The intense heat in Cox’s Bazar city has driven both locals and visitors from afar to seek comfort in the cool breeze at Laboni, Sugandha, and Kolatoli points.

Abraham Islam, a tourist visiting with his family, said, “It’s unbearable in this heat. That’s why we came to Cox’s Bazar this morning. It feels much lighter here.”

Another visitor remarked, “Even though today isn’t a holiday, we came suddenly because of the heat — and the beach is more crowded than I expected.”

Abhijit Barua, PRO of Sea Safe Lifeguard, said, “We’re seeing a steady stream of tourists every day. As temperatures rise, more people are coming to the beach for relief. We are fully prepared to ensure their safety.”
