A two-day Bijoy Mela kicked off in Chakaria, Cox’s Bazar, to celebrate the Great Victory Day. The fair featured 30 stalls, including one representing the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Local artisans and entrepreneurs showcase handmade products, such as traditional sarees, kurtas, and rural handicrafts, highlighting the region’s rich cultural heritage.
Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Mohammad Atikur Rahman inaugurated the fair on Saturday, December 16, at 11 a.m. at the Victory Stage Ground adjacent to the Central Shaheed Minar. Following the inauguration, he visited each stall and remarked, “Achieving freedom was challenging, and so is preserving it. Everyone must fulfill their responsibilities diligently.”
Mohammad Manjur Kader Bhuiyan, the Officer-in-Charge of Chakaria Police, guaranteed the enforcement of robust security measures during the fair. He vowed to deal firmly with any attempt to disrupt peace.
The Victory Fair has become a festive hub where locals celebrate freedom, heritage, and cultural pride.
