A two-day training program on child journalism was held on February 25–26 in Ukhiya Upazila under the Child Safety Net Project of World Vision Bangladesh. The program aimed to enhance children’s ability to express their opinions and strengthen their communication skills.

The facilitators included Professor Moinul Hasan Palash, editor and publisher of the Daily Samudra Kantho; Saeed Muhammad Anwar, president of the Ukhiya Press Club; member secretary Faruk Ahmed; and Biplobi Rani De Roy, communications specialist of the project.

A total of 25 children participated in the training, with five representatives each from the unions of Rajapalong, Ratnapalong, Jaliapalong, Palongkhali, and Haldiyapalong under Ukhiya Upazila. Among them were 13 girls and 12 boys.

The training sessions covered practical discussions on what constitutes news, different types of news, techniques of news writing, and the effective use of language.

It is worth noting that since 2024, the Child Safety Net Project has been working in Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Ramu, Ukhiya, and Teknaf upazilas to prevent child marriage, in coordination with the administration, local government bodies, health and family planning departments, the Department of Women Affairs, educational institutions, and media organizations.
