Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adviser for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change of the interim government, said that they will take urgent initiatives to free single-use plastic and polythene from the country’s only coral island St. Martin, Kuakata beach and mangrove forest Sundarbans.
She emphasized the support of NGOs and youth along with government efforts to achieve a cleaner environment.
During a meeting with environmental organizations at the Bangladesh Secretariat, Rizwana also addressed demands for wildlife conservation, stating that the inclusion of more wildlife officers in the Forest Department will be considered.
She discussed plans to enhance the management of safari parks, strengthen wildlife crime prevention units, and establish safe corridors for wildlife between isolated forests.
Representatives from the Deep Ecology and Snake Conservation Foundation and Wild Team shared their initiatives for conserving the environment and biodiversity during the meeting.
