As dusk settles over Pechar Dwip beach along the Cox’s Bazar Marine Drive, the quiet shoreline transforms into a lively football ground where dozens of local teenagers gather for their daily game.
After finishing their day’s work and studies, the youths arrive in groups carrying footballs, turning the wide sandy beach into a vibrant arena filled with cheers, friendly rivalry and laughter.
Against the backdrop of rolling waves and the fading glow of the evening sky, football has become an enduring part of village life.
The tradition continues almost every afternoon, regardless of whether the weather brings heavy rain or scorching sunshine. The sea breeze, open shoreline and expansive beach provide an ideal setting for the young players, whose enthusiasm remains undiminished by changing weather conditions.
Local resident Harun Islam said the daily football matches were more than just recreation. They encouraged young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, strengthened friendships and kept them away from excessive mobile phone use and other harmful distractions.
Even as the sun disappears below the horizon, the beach remains alive with the sound of running feet, excited shouts and shared laughter.
The blend of natural beauty and youthful energy has turned Pechar Dwip beach into a place where sport and community come together, offering a simple yet enduring picture of rural coastal life.
