With the scorching heat and Ramadan fasting in full swing, watermelon demand has recently surged. As Iftar approaches, crowds gather at various spots across Cox’s Bazar every afternoon to buy the refreshing fruit.
Amid rising prices at most fruit stalls, Ruhul Amin stands out by selling large watermelons at a comparatively lower cost. Each of his watermelons weighs between 10 and 12 kilograms, and prices range from Tk400 to Tk500 per piece.
Ruhul Amin, a farmer, grows these watermelons on his land and brings around 100 to Cox’s Bazar city daily. He says he sells them with a minimal profit margin, ensuring affordability for buyers while maintaining a steady business.
