Winter watermelons have arrived in Cox’s Bazar, surprising residents accustomed to the fruit being a summer treat. While the scorching summer months usually spike in watermelon prices, Cox’s Bazar City now offers the same juicy fruit throughout the winter.
Once unimaginable in Bangladesh, winter watermelons are now possible thanks to year-round cultivation in select areas. While not yet widespread, watermelon farming has expanded in various regions, enabling fruit enjoyment throughout all seasons.
According to local vendors, demand is currently low, so winter watermelons sell at affordable prices.
