The Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) organized a special training workshop for journalists in Cox’s Bazar on interpreting weather forecasts.

The day-long workshop, held on Wednesday at a hotel in Kolatoli, was part of the Strengthening Last Mile Communications initiative, which USAID and UCAR funded.

The training focused on enhancing the capacity of media professionals to interpret and present weather-related information accurately. Meteorologists Abdul Hannan and Golam Rabbani led the sessions, which covered various topics such as numerical weather forecasting, cyclone early warning systems, forecast uncertainty, lightning and thunderstorm awareness, instant portals and their functionalities, and impact-based forecasting and early warning services.

Fourteen journalists from various media outlets attended the workshop, and they benefited from the in-depth insights and practical knowledge shared during the sessions.
