On Tuesday, A seven-member World Bank delegation visited several Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, to assess ongoing humanitarian and development initiatives.
The team toured Camp 20 Extension in Kutupalong-Lambashia, where they observed the “Integrated Infectious Diseases and Medical Center.” The center is key in providing critical healthcare services to the refugee population.
The delegation included Rafi Hossain, Operations Officer; Sabah Moein, Social Development Specialist; Dr. Giorgi Bela Fritsche, Senior Health Specialist; Jayati Shethi, Social Development Specialist; Sabina Parvin, Extended-Term Social Development Consultant; and consultants Mohammad Abdus Sabur and Tanzina Rahman.
Later in the day, the delegation visited the Rohingya Cultural Memory Centre at Camp-18, where Rohingya artists showcased cultural heritage elements through art and performance.
The visit aimed to evaluate the impact of World Bank-supported programs and explore further avenues for community-based support and resilience-building in the camps.
