Cox’s Bazar’s Ukhia Forest Department has rescued a 10-foot-long, approximately 15-kg Burmese python from a residential area.
The snake was spotted on Sunday (September 22) in Mohuripara under Ukhia Range’s Sadar Beat.
Following the rescue, the python was released into the natural habitat of the protected forest area under Douchari Beat in Ukhia.
Imdadul Hasan Rony, the Douchari Beat Officer, stated that although locals were initially frightened when the snake entered the neighborhood, it was completely harmless.
“We safely rescued it and released it back into the forest. Regular patrolling and awareness programs are underway to ensure wildlife protection,” he added.
