Fisherman Abdul Gani netted a rare 33-kg black poa fish off the coast of St. Martin’s Island on Saturday (22 November) morning.
The fish became trapped while he was pulling in his nets from the western part of the Bay of Bengal near the island.
Fisherman Gani said the massive black poa has been priced at Tk 10 lakh.
However, local fish trader Nur Ahmad has shown interest in purchasing it for Tk 7 lakh.
“The fish hasn’t been sold yet. If someone offers a higher price, I will sell it to them. I will wait until morning to see if the bid goes up; then I’ll decide whom to sell it to,” Gani told reporters.
