Police in Teknaf detained 38 Rohingyas, including 30 children, as they attempted to enter Bangladesh through the Baharchhara-Noakhali Para coastal area on Wednesday afternoon. The detainees, who fled from Myanmar, are currently in police custody, awaiting decisions from the authorities. Among the group are eight women and 30 children.

Inspector Shovan Kumar Shah, in charge of Baharchhara Police Investigation Center, confirmed the incident. He stated, “We apprehended 38 Rohingyas, including 30 children, as they entered Bangladesh through the Teknaf coastline. Discussions are underway with the authorities to decide their fate.”

This incident follows a similar occurrence on January 5, when the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 36 Rohingyas, including women and children, near the Munder Dale Ghat of Marine Drive in Teknaf as they tried to enter the country by boat.

Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Ehsan Uddin said, “All law enforcement agencies are working together to prevent illegal entry. Investigations into the detained Rohingyas are ongoing.”

Authorities remain vigilant along the Teknaf coast to curb unauthorized crossings while ensuring the security of the border.
