In Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, local authorities have begun relocating residents of the Rohingya refugee camps and people living precariously on hillslopes to safer locations.
According to Md. Kamrul Hossain Chowdhury, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Ukhiya, along with the Disaster Management Committee, Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) volunteers, and Red Crescent Society volunteers, are working together to identify vulnerable areas and relocate people to safety.
Meanwhile, in Teknaf, continuous rain, gusty winds, and tidal surges have submerged shrimp farms, betel leaf gardens, roads, sub-roads, and embankments, causing extensive damage. Many homes have also been inundated.
