Associate Professor Syed Jasim Uddin has assumed the role of Chair of the Department of English Language and Literature at Premier University, Chattogram. He hails from IBP Road, Bazar Ghata, Cox’s Bazar, and is the youngest son of the late Syed Mozaffar Ahmed and Ayesha Begum.
Professor Jasim completed his SSC from Cox’s Bazar Government High School in 1990 and his HSC from Cox’s Bazar Government College in 1992. He later obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from the University of Chittagong.
Since joining Premier University in 2003, he has been engaged in teaching and research in the Department of English Language and Literature for over two decades.
Among his eleven research papers, seven have been published in peer-reviewed journals. Additionally, he translated two essays for the book Dhaka in the Liberation War, published by the Asiatic Society of Bangladesh.
Beyond academia, Professor Jasim has served as editor for six issues of the quarterly little magazine Alokpatra, reflecting his continued commitment to literary and intellectual pursuits.
