Parasailing, a popular adventure sport at Cox’s Bazar beach, has turned risky for tourists due to operators flouting safety regulations.

The concern grew sharper after a recent incident where a tourist lost control mid-ride and dangled from a rope after crashing into a jhau tree, sparking panic among onlookers.

The accident occurred on Saturday (August 30) at President Beach Point, near Dariyanagar, about 7 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar town. The parasailing ride was being operated by ‘Satellite Vision Sea Sports.’

Following the incident, the Cox’s Bazar district administration ordered a suspension of all parasailing activities at the beach starting Sunday (August 31).

Executive Magistrate Azim Khan of the district administration’s tourism wing said, “We have been informed that the tourist is safe. However, all parasailing activities at the beach have been suspended after this incident. Anyone defying the order will face legal action.”
