A series of thought-provoking posters have recently appeared on the streets, alleys, and bus stands across Cox’s Bazar city, drawing the attention of pedestrians. The message reads: “A mother dog has recently given birth here. Please be cautious.”

The initiative aims to inspire empathy and responsible behavior among citizens toward stray animals.

The campaign has been jointly launched by Doriya Sportswear, a local jersey manufacturing company, and Bihogskha, a Facebook page dedicated to bird care and animal welfare. The posters have already become a talking point among locals, with many stopping to read them or capture photos on their phones.

Each poster includes simple but essential guidelines for the public:

  • Stay calm and avoid making loud noises.
  • Do not touch the puppies.
  • Keep distance while they eat or rest.
  • Avoid scaring or hurting them—frightened mother dogs may bite.
  • Warn children not to disturb the mother or her puppies.

The posters also remind citizens that, under the Animal Welfare Act 2019, killing or removing dogs is a punishable offense.

Sayantan Bhattacharya, owner of Doriya Sportswear, and Swarup Chakraborty, admin of Bihogskha, said, “Our goal is to promote compassion and awareness about newly mothered dogs living on the streets of Cox’s Bazar. We believe this small step can have a lasting impact on animal welfare and strengthen the bond between humans and animals.”
