Bangladesh has canceled the contractual appointments of ambassadors to the United States, Russia, Japan, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Additionally, the high commissioner to the Maldives, who was on deputation, has been asked to return home. The directive was issued through separate gazette notifications signed by Foreign Ministry Director General DM Salah Uddin on Wednesday.
Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen confirmed that the decision to recall the envoys followed a recent advisory council meeting, where the cancellation of these appointments was discussed.
