The greater Garjaniya area of Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar is once again earning a reputation as a local granary, with the thriving cultivation of a wide variety of crops.
Farmers in the region are currently growing onions, wheat, chilli, tomatoes, and rice, alongside seasonal vegetables—bringing renewed hope to the local farming community.
To boost agricultural output, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer Jahirul Islam, who is responsible for the Kachhapia area, has been providing regular, hands-on guidance to farmers directly in the fields.
He is advising them on modern farming techniques, pest and disease management, and ways to increase overall yield.
Speaking about the initiative, Jahirul Islam said, “The agriculture office stands by farmers in both good and difficult times. When we visit the fields and see problems firsthand, it becomes much easier to offer effective solutions.”
With this close coordination and continuous support from the agriculture department, crop production in greater Garjaniya is expected to increase further, strengthening the region’s role in local food production.
