The striking blue water lily, a rare and visually captivating flower, is drawing the attention of flower lovers in Cox’s Bazar, where it has recently appeared at several local flower shops.

The flower is particularly visible at Abdur Rahim Pushpa Bitan near the Shaheed Minar area in the heart of the town. With its deep blue hue and delicate petals, the blue water lily stands out among more commonly sold flowers, attracting curious onlookers and eager buyers alike.

Rahim, the proprietor of Abdur Rahim Pushpa Bitan, said that blue water lilies are not available year-round and can only be collected during specific seasons. ‘Outside the season, it is quite difficult to source this flower. We are usually able to collect it up to the winter months,’ he said.

Shop attendants said the blue water lily is currently priced at Tk 20 per stem. Buyers are purchasing the flowers for religious rituals, home decoration, and other special occasions.

Flower traders believe that growing interest in the blue water lily will add a new dimension to the local flower market and encourage customers to explore a wider variety of distinctive, seasonal flowers.
