Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hasan has conducted a field-level inspection of security arrangements in Kutubdia to ensure that the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum 2026 are held in a free, fair, and peaceful manner.

On Wednesday (4 February), the navy chief visited the coastal areas of Kutubdia and Sandwip, where he reviewed the preparedness of naval contingents deployed for election duties.

During the visit, Admiral Nazmul Hasan met with local civil administration officials, law enforcement officials, and election officials. 

He emphasised the importance of ensuring that voters can exercise their franchise in a festive atmosphere, free from fear or intimidation.

Addressing the officials present, he emphasized the need for close interagency coordination and vigilant monitoring to ensure a peaceful and neutral election. To prevent any form of violence or disorder, he also instructed all concerned parties to remain at the highest level of alert.

The navy chief said that modern technology would be used extensively this time to strengthen security in election areas.

Under the ‘In Aid to Civil Power’ arrangement, the Bangladesh Navy is currently performing election duties in 25 upazilas and three city corporations across 16 parliamentary constituencies. Special security measures have been reinforced in Bhola, Hatiya, Sandwip, Cox’s Bazar, and Saint Martin’s Island.

The coordination meeting was attended by senior officials, including the divisional commissioner, range deputy inspector general of police, district administrators, superintendents of police, and high-ranking officers from the navy and civil administration.
