Marking the first Friday of the holy month of Ramadan (20 February), mosques across the tourist city of Cox’s Bazar saw a massive turnout of prayerers.
As every Friday in Ramadan carries added religious significance, devout Muslims gather in large numbers to offer Jumu’ah prayers and engage in acts of worship.
In the morning, crowds began to gather at key mosques in the town. Most mosques reached capacity even before the Friday prayers began.
Prayerers devoted themselves to prayers, recitation of the Holy Qur’an, and remembrance (zikr), seeking the pleasure of Almighty Allah.
Among the prominent mosques that experienced heavy attendance were Cox’s Bazar Model Mosque, Sadar Upazila Model Mosque, Badr Mokam Jame Mosque, Baharchhara Jame Mosque, Tekpara Jame Mosque, and Jhautola Jame Mosque.
Other mosques across the district reported similar scenes of overflowing congregations.
Worshippers said that offering prayers on the first Friday of Ramadan holds special spiritual merit.
Many attended with their family members and devoted extra time to prayers and religious observances.
Overall, the first Friday of Ramadan brought a solemn and spiritually vibrant atmosphere to Cox’s Bazar, reflecting the deep religious devotion of its residents.
