Cox’s Bazar is observing Shaheed Dibosh and International Mother Language Day with due solemnity and respect.

At the first hour of Ekushey, Cox’s Bazar-3  constituency Member of Parliament Lutfur Rahman Kajol, Deputy Commissioner Md. Abul Mannan, Superintendent of Police, A.N.M. Sajedur Rahman, along with other key administrative and political figures of the district were placed at the Shaheed Minar on behalf of the state.

Later, representatives of the administration, various political, social, and cultural organisations, educational institutions, and people from all walks of life paid tribute to the language martyrs by placing floral wreaths at the Shaheed Minar.

Deputy Commissioner, Md. Abul Mannan said that, in line with government directives, the district is observing Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day with appropriate programmes throughout the day.

The observances include a provat feri, discussion meetings, drawing competitions, poetry recitations, and cultural events.

The Language Movement of 1952 remains a glorious chapter in Bengali history.

The sacrifice of students who demanded recognition of Bangla as a state language is still impacting the nation.

The movement strengthened Bengali identity and later laid the foundation for the Liberation War.
