Cox’s Bazar sea beach witnessed a massive influx of tourists during the weekend and the public holiday marking Independence Day, with large crowds gathering across key points from early Friday morning.
Popular spots, such as Laboni, Sugandha, and Kolatoli, saw particularly high footfall as tourists flocked to the shoreline.
As the day progressed, the sandy beach filled with people. Tourists, accompanied by family members, friends and loved ones, enjoyed the waves and festive atmosphere. Despite the midday heat, thousands were seen entering the sea, with many following lifeguards’ instructions and staying within safe zones, while others relaxed along the shore.
Rakib Hasan, a tourist from Dhaka, said, “We came to Cox’s Bazar with family to make the most of the long holiday. The weather and the vast sea make it a wonderful experience. Even with the crowd, the enjoyment remains intact.”
Another visitor from Chattogram said he arrived with friends on short notice. “Even under the afternoon sun, it feels wonderful to bathe in the sea. The crowd is quite large, so we are being cautious,” he said.
Many visitors noted that, following the Eid holidays, the extended break offered another opportunity to travel, leading to a sharp rise in tourist numbers within a short period.
Local business owners and hotel operators said that most hotels and motels had been fully booked in advance, and the influx of tourists has revived business activity in the area.
To ensure safety, tourist police, district police and lifeguard personnel remained on duty throughout the beach. Announcements and guidelines were provided to help visitors enjoy safe bathing and travel.
Overall, the combined weekend and national holiday has turned Cox’s Bazar into a vibrant gathering place filled with celebration and leisure.
