Scorching heat has made daily life increasingly uncomfortable, prompting people to seek relief in cooler environments. Many have traveled from different parts of the country to Cox’s Bazar sea beach—the world’s longest natural sea beach—where the waves and saline water offer a welcome escape from the heat.

On Saturday noon, despite the intense sun beating down on the sandy shore, the flow of tourists showed no signs of slowing. Men, women, and children rushed into the sea to escape the hot sand, while activities such as sea bathing, floating on tubes, and riding jet skis added to the beach’s lively atmosphere.

Shimol Sazed, a tourist from Noakhali, said he visited the beach to break away from the monotony of city life. “Coming close to the sea has taken away all my fatigue,” he said.

Soleiman Shahed, a visitor from Wari in Dhaka, said they came to the beach to find relief from the heat. “The feeling of cooling off in the saline water is amazing,” he said.

Farah Khanam, who visited with her family, described her experience in Cox’s Bazar as unforgettable despite the intense heat.

The influx of tourists during the weekly holiday has also brought relief to those whose livelihoods depend on beach activities. Photographers, beach bike riders, horse handlers, and jet ski operators reported brisk business, while shops selling local products also saw increased sales.

Local photographer Gafur Uddin said business remained strong due to the steady presence of tourists. Beach bike rider Kofil Uddin noted that higher visitor numbers had led to increased income.

With the sea remaining rough, lifeguards have intensified their efforts to ensure safety. Lifeguard supervisor Mohammad Osman said a three-tier safety system had been reinforced, with volunteers deployed alongside regular personnel.

To manage the growing number of visitors, tourist police have also strengthened security measures not only at the main beach but along Marine Drive, Himchari, Inani Beach, and Patuartek Beach.
