Member of Parliament for Cox’s Bazar-3 Lutfur Rahman Kazal visited the 250-bed district sadar hospital in Cox’s Bazar on Saturday (April 4) amid a rise in measles cases, and directed authorities to begin vaccination activities without delay.

During the visit, he inspected various wards, spoke with patients and guardians, and inquired about the condition of children undergoing treatment.

He also assessed whether patients were satisfied with medical services, whether doctors were present on time, and whether the hospital supplied necessary medicines.

Addressing doctors, nurses, and staff, the lawmaker urged them to ensure compassionate and dedicated care for patients and their attendants. He also stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness across the hospital.

Kazal said measles is not necessarily fatal if treated properly and advised guardians to seek medical attention promptly when symptoms appear. “With proper care and treatment, patients can recover quickly. There is no need to panic,” he said.

He added that suspected measles patients would be placed in isolation in a separate room near the hospital to prevent further transmission.

Later, he instructed hospital superintendent Dr Mong Tingyo to begin measles vaccination activities immediately, without waiting for a formal inauguration.
